Guak-Kim joins cc-TDI as a Senior Research Scientist. Initially trained as a biomedical scientist at the University of Malaya, Malaysia, her earlier work on cell cultures inspired her to pursue a Ph.D. in bioengineering at The University of Queensland, Australia. During her postdoctoral training, she focused on the development of drug delivery systems at Kyoto University, Japan, and musculoskeletal developmental biology at Shriners Hospitals-Portland, USA. Her research spans from biomimetic scaffolds for meniscal tissue engineering to mouse genetics and endogenous stem cells for tendon repair. Her research accomplishments have been recognized with the prestigious Australian government’s Endeavour Postgraduate Award, the Best Young Scientist Award (International Bone Tissue Engineering Congress, Germany), and the Japan JSPS Postdoctoral Fellowship. During her free time, Guak-Kim enjoys meditation, Chinese calligraphy, reading, and hiking.
