Sharing our Why: Science-Justified Hope

This month, we invite you to join us in supporting pioneering research at cc-TDI, which has served as a beacon of hope for families like ours. Our journey began when our precious baby, Shane, was diagnosed at just 8 months old with stage 4 alveolar rhabdomyosarcoma. At the time, there were no new treatment options available, so we did what all families do—we clung to the hope that Shane could be the “one” to beat the odds. Although Shane bravely endured his treatments for more than a year, we tragically lost him before his second birthday.

For families facing a childhood cancer diagnosis, hope becomes everything. And at cc-TDI, we have come to see that hope is science-justified. Their team of researchers, global collaborators, and committed partners, work tirelessly to develop new treatments that Shane and so many others desperately need. To our family, cc-TDI is more than a research facility, it symbolizes a new way forward where no family has to endure this journey alone, and where every child has access to life-saving treatment options.

As members of cc-TDI’s Board of Directors, we remain an integral part of cc-TDI through board service and in partnership with our nonprofit organization, Shane’s Future Days. For the last decade, our commitment to cc-TDI’s mission has remained steadfast, and this September, we invite you to amplify your impact by participating in a special matching gift challenge. Thanks to the generosity of cc-TDI’s Board, donations made this month will be matched dollar-for-dollar, up to $35,000! This is your chance to double your support and accelerate the progress of crucial research. Join us in fueling science-justified hope that drives our collective mission. Let’s work together to ensure that no family has to face this battle without the promise of a cure. Donate now and make twice the difference!

With appreciation and hope for the future,

Paul and Michele Metzgar, Shane’s Parents
